Introduction
Inspiring growth

In Asia Pacific, South East Asia region is one of the most significant growing area of Saint-Gobain’s international business. Saint-Gobain has had operations in South East Asia for eighteen years, starting first in Indonesia in 1990.

From Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and recently set up in Vietnam, our three of Saint-Gobain five sectors are now being operated which are High-Performance Materials, Flat Glass and Construction Products. Saint-Gobain has continuously studied new possibilities for possible business expansions in the region.

Growing success

Asia-Pacific and South East Asia have been in high priority for the international expansion of Saint-Gobain, and all the Group’s divisions are present in the region. By localizing the technical expertise and global materials experience of the Saint-Gobain Group, we have created strong business and customer relationships, and established our products and brand names in all major markets.

As the region matures as a manufacturing base and as an enormous market in its own right, our development is accelerating-not only in the several markets with huge growth potential, but also in other Asia-Pacific countries where our market positions are still well short of our potential. A key part of our approach is establishing joint ventures with existing local partners, finding and developing technical and marketing synergies that allow all parties to share in success on a broader stage.

Our operations in South East Asia with more than 10 plants are in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam with more than 2,000 employees. Moreover, Saint-Gobain General Delegation Asia Pacific, South East Asia headquarter is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Saint-Gobain employs about 17,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region. We have a major presence China, with nearly 11,700 people working in more than 45 companies operating in all our business sectors. Our presence in China is strongest in and around Beijing and Shanghai, but extends to Mudanjiang in the north, to Guangzhou in the south, and as far inland as Xining. Saint-Gobain is actively pursuing future growth opportunities in China.

Japan is the site of our General Delegation headquarters for Asia-Pacific region. Our nearly 450 employees in Japan are working in flat glass, ceramics and plastics, and abrasives, supplying leading industries with sophisticated products and technical services.

Saint-Gobain had been operating in Korea for more than ten years. Through a major partnership with Hankuk Glass Industries we are co-leader in the nation’s flat glass extending to new business development throughout North East Asia and China. And in the Pacific region Saint-Gobain has plants and sales offices throughout Australia and in New Zealand.

Saint-Gobain has for more than 300 years proven its ability to think, innovate, and grow. We are confident that both the South East Asia region and our role in it share an outstanding future.
